Hi all

Pathetically slow progress due to strange goings on at work, all resolved now & back to just not having much time as usual!

Got the beam finished, lashed some stone chip on the inner wings & under the front etc. Put the beam on & assembled everything, cut & shut the roll bar & fitted it on top of the arms to gain some ground clearance. Can't fit the short steering arm until there's some weight on the suspension.

I decided to keep the steering damper as well, I know people don't bother but it was pretty easy to sort the bracket out.

Going to fill & bleed the brakes next, before I put it on the ground again. I'm really going to TRY to get it to Big Bang  :Smiley

British beetles are Weird! You have a 72 1200 here.. We stopped getting 1200s in 60s.the vents behind the quarter windows aren't cut out.It has pre 68 seats. The bumpers that are mounted through the valances (not the fenders) and the partial head liner. And factory Disc brakes,an option we never had until 75 or 76. One of you guys have to mail me a UK beetle one of these days.

The Car looks sweet. You have some nice bodywork skills.

Today I have mostly been bleeding brakes & refitting the motor  Grin I don't have any fuel, but it still turns over nicely.

Might even do a bit more tomorrow.

Hi ornjkr8, my bug is the 72 equivalent of a standard model, the lowest of the low, not that I care, I like simple. It didn't have disc brakes originally. I'm not going to be running any bumpers, I put a later valance on the front so I won't have any slots at all & I'll make blanking plugs for the rear for when I don't have the towbar, that I haven't made yet, fitted. Thanks for the comments, this is my learner resto, 64 splitty next.

Errrr, I dunno  :Smiley There's so many small things to do. I'll probably stare at it for a couple of hours & then when nothings happened on it's own I'll pick up a spanner & twiddle a nut  Grin

Well yet again I have proven that staring really hard doesn't work. Did a few dull small things that seemed to take ages & it looks like I achieved nothing  :Smiley Still every small task done is a little bit closer to the end.

Had to waste the morning mucking about with my A3, poxy alarm keeps going off for no reason, normally in the middle of the night  Angry I'm sure my neighbours hate me at the moment  Grin Found a possible fix on the web, hopefully that will be it.

Wish I could draw/paint. I can doodle but it never amounts to anything. I like to colour stuff in, I had a bunch of those berol doodle art pictures back in the day, still got one half finished, hang on that sounds just like the bug, maybe I have a finishing problem  Grin Grin

Time for dinner.
